1.Watermelon Sours

Total: 10 min

Active: 10 min

Level: Easy

Directions

Puree 4 cups watermelon chunks; strain. Stir in 4 ounces Alize Red Passion or other fruit-flavored liqueur, 8 ounces gin and 2 cups sour mix; chill. Add sparkling rose before serving. Garnish with lime. Makes 10 to 12 drinks.

2.High-Art Punch

Ice-ring molds are bona fide crowd-pleasers — until they melt and water down the punch. This modern twist actually adds flavor: We froze spheres of red juice using an ice-ball tray and added them to a clear punch. You can use any combination of juices, like pomegranate, cherry or cranberry, and just drop the frozen balls into a punch of white grape juice mixed with seltzer or sparkling water.

3.Create a Watermelon Tray

If you’re short on serving dishes for a summer party, turn your watermelon into a platter: Cut a short chunk off one end to use as the tray. Then, with a melon baller, scoop pieces from the rest of the watermelon (and other fruit), thread onto 10-inch skewers and stick into the melon base.

4.Faux Fruit Slices

Total: 10 min

Active: 10 min

Level: Easy

Directions

Cut 2 oranges and 4 lemons in half, scoop out the flesh, then put the rinds in a muffin tin to keep them level. Boil 1 1/2 cups water, add two 3-ounce boxes orange gelatin, mix and cook, stirring, 3 minutes; pour the mixture to the brim of each orange half. Repeat with two 3-ounce boxes lemon gelatin and the lemon halves. Refrigerate 3 hours and slice into wedges.
